HOW PRODUCTIONS USE IT

Productions start with the truck — the size that fits the shoot — then spec lighting, power, and the jib into the same booking. Commercials add the M18 and a generator for the exterior day; interview crews put a lean LED kit on the 1-ton; features load the 5-ton and take the deep package. However it's built, it arrives as one delivery, with one person who knows all of it. That's the point.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Tell us what you're making — that's genuinely the fastest path. Producers send us everything from full gaffer's lists to "two-person interview, hotel conference room," and we spec the package either way. The truck pages and lighting inventory are here when you want to browse first.

  • Our equipment goes out as packages on our trucks, with a Photon crew member — we're not a pickup counter, and honestly that's why the gear shows up working. If your shoot needs one specific thing, bring it up in the quote conversation and we'll figure out the right way to get it on set.

  • Yes — we carry a hostess tray and suction cup mounts, and we can process a car on a trailer when the shot calls for it. Steadicam work adds an India mount to that. Tell us the shot when you request a quote and we'll spec the rig.

  • Yes. Trucks are driven to your location by your Photon gaffer, billed for mileage from our Richmond base. For most Virginia locations that's a straightforward line item — tell us your location when you request a quote and we'll give you the exact number.

  • Truck and jib day rates are posted on their pages. Lighting, generators, and add-ons are quoted as part of your package — built per production. Multi-day and multi-week rates are available: the longer the run, the more room we have to work with you.

  • We require a certificate of insurance covering the rented equipment, naming Photon Grip & Electric as additionally insured. Most production insurance policies handle this in a quick email with your broker. Booking without production insurance? Contact us and we'll talk through options.
